The Art of Fighting: Muay Thai Chaiya Part 2
Muay Thai Chaiya is a fascinating fighting system deeply rooted in the martial traditions of ancient Thailand. Host, Brooklyn Monk, Antonio Graceffo studies with Kru Lek, one of Thailands leading practitioners of this effective art. Chaiya uses a low stance, bare knuckles, elbows and knees out, like a prickly pineapple waiting to impale the opponent when he moves in. the movement and position of the Chaiya fighter is so different from any other stand up fighting art that it completely takes the opponent out of his game. Antonio was barely able to do anything against a Chaiya student who had only six months of experience. The bulk of Kru Leks students are normal people who practice for fun, culture, and fitness. But some chose to fight in the professional Muay Thai ring, and they do extremely well. Unlike sport Muay Thai, Chaiya is taught from the ground up, similar to a traditional martial art, such as Karate or Tae Kwan Do. A student could walk in off the street, with previous martial arts experience and begin learning the basics from an instructor. At last,an English language video training course on traditional Thai Boxing,Muay Thai.This martial art form was encouraged by the kings of early Siam along with sword fighting to build an army capable of defeating Siam's enemies.It is still encouraged by the Thai Royal Army to prepare its troops.It has formed the basis of modern day professional and amateur Muay Thai and the techniques taught in these videos can be seen in action in the ring every day.Chaiyuth means "Winning Strategy". Volume 1 starts with the history of this martial art form and shows how to do the respect for the teacher ceremony seen at the beginning of Thai boxing fights.Then follows instruction on: * The basic Muay Thai movement, duen muay which translates as the boxing walk. * The defensive moves of brushing and blocking. * Demonstration on the use of the fist, elbow, knee and foot. * How to mix the techniques.

Tipitaka Documentary : King of Siam Tipitaka 1893
KING OF SIAM TIPITAKA, 1893 "Pali" is an old Indian dialect of the mass, spoken in the Indian Subcontinent over 3000 years ago. During the lifetime of the Buddha, Pali was the Dhamma-language of the Buddhist teaching and thus finally became the written medium of Buddhist scripture, the Tipitaka. During an early period, Pali Tipitaka was committed to memory and was propagated by Theravada Buddhist monks orally from generation to generation. It was first written on palm leave some 400 years after the demise of Buddha or in the first century BC. The first written Pali Tipitaka took place in old Sri Lanka when the entire Tipitaka was inscribed on palm leaves --in Sinhalese script-- for the first time. Consequently, the Tipitaka on palm leave was the conventional depository of the Buddhist Theravada scripture for over 2000 years. In 1893, King Chulalongkorn of Siam revolutionised the traditional Buddhist depository convention --the King published the Tipitaka in Book-form for the first time. In stead of inscribing the sacred Pali texts by hand in old Khmer script, the King ordered a new edition, totaling 39 volumes, to be printed in modern-typeface of the Siam script. With the efficiency of printing technology of the day, such as, Western printing machinery and local book-binding in Bangkok, these newly edited Siam-script Tipitakas were sent as royal gifts to 260 institutes across five continents in 1896.
